US College Hockey Online reports that recently-retired University of Vermont Men’s Coach Kevin Sneddon joined Elev802 as its President and Director of Operations. Elev802 is a hockey performance and physical training boutique in Essex Junction, VT which was founded by retired pros and UVM hockey alumni Torrey Mitchell and Peter Lenes.
According to the article, “At Elev802, Sneddon will be focused on the business growth as the company looks to expand nationwide. In addition, he will provide consulting for coaches and players who want to tap into his experience and knowledge of college hockey.”
The thing that makes Elev802 so interesting is that it combines hockey performance and physical training under one roof. Most of the hockey performance centers that RinkAtlas is aware of are primarily focused on small ice surfaces. Elev802 has a 56 x 36-foot studio rink, which is useful for all sorts of on-ice purposes. But Elev802 also has a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning center and on-staff coaching, led by head strength and conditioning coach Chris Line. See the Elev802 staff page for more details.
There are many Junior and College hockey programs that have assembled all of these pieces for their players, but the number of businesses that provide all of these services to the general public in North America is still small.
