Santa Clarita City Council Considering Bonds to Fund Ice Station Valencia Acquisition

The Santa Clarita Valley Signal reported on Friday that the Santa Clarita City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday to consider raising $15 million through lease revenue bonds to fund the acquisition of Ice Station Valencia. Ice Station Valencia is a three-sheet arena complex in the Valencia neighborhood of Santa Clarita in Los Angeles County, California.

According to the article, Ice Station Valencia opened in 2000, and the facility includes a pro shop and restaurant in addition to the three ice rinks. It closed in March due to the pandemic. The owner of the facility expressed a need to sell or permanently close the facility in May. This resulted in talks with a number of parties, and an eventual agreement to sell the facility to the city. The purchase was approved by the Santa Clarita’s city council in late August.
